Automobiles in German City Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers stated they were alerted by a resident who discovered a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.

Police say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they added.

Officers then located many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Officials report early analysis show the substance was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the event," they added.

City officials said they were working "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for information.

A senior representative stated the attack made him without words and required to be solved promptly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
