19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.
His varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former trainer Cervara.
Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.
It is the player's maiden title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from that period of that year.
The win also means the Russian has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.
His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on court had led observers to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an better serve.
The champion came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
The pair swapped break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional victory, took control to create a final set.
He defended four initial opportunities in a close final set before the Russian broke to 15 to serve for the match.
Fittingly, he clinched the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
